ある本に次のようなことが書いてありました。 １．否定で始まる倒置パターン ・Only after an operation will he be able to walk again. (手術後初めて、彼はまた歩けるようになるでしょう) ・Not only is she beautiful, but also she is intelligent. 2.場所を表す副詞句後倒置パターン ・Behind(On,Under,Beyond,etc) this lies a gold mine. (この下に金鉱がある) 3.補語倒置パターン ・Very grateful I am for your help. 4.目的語倒置パターン ・This car I want. 5.分詞倒置パターン ・Standing over there is Mr.Yamada. 6.倒置仮定法 ・Were I you～（仮定法過去） 7.There,Here型倒置 ・There goes the bell. 8.than,as型倒置パターン ・He can run faster than can all his classmates. 9.So,Such型倒置パターン ・So beautiful is she that I can't take my eyes off her. という例があり、１，２，７，８は必ず倒置するが、３，４，５，６，１０は英語のリズムをよくするため、６は短く文を引き締めるために倒置するという説明があり、特にonly,not(～副詞（句）))で始まる文はうっかり倒置にするのを忘れやすいので要注意ですとありました。 ということは、 １の倒置でない形での He will be able to walk again only after an operation.や ２の A gold mine lies under this.は非文でありえないのでしょうか？？ |

2008-06-23 00:02私は、その本の倒置の説明を読んだわけではありませんので、詳しいことはわかりませんし、多分、何か誤解があるようにも思えますが、以下のようにレスしたいと思います。

"only" で修飾された前置詞 "after" で始まる前置詞句が文末にくるパターンとなる文はありえます。"Google" の "Book Search" で出版された本の中で検索すると、例えば以下がありました：
